Miley Cyrus is treating her upcoming Hollywood Bowl performances as more than a return to the stage. The singer and actress says the two Los Angeles shows could help test whether a longer residency would work on her terms.
Cyrus discussed the idea during the Thursday, Sept. 17 episode of Apple Music’s “Zane Lowe Show.” She spoke about the Oct. 16 and Oct. 18 performances after preparing to release her 10th studio album, “Something Beautiful.”
A Show Close to Home

Cyrus, 33, said she selected the Hollywood Bowl partly because of its location. She wanted the night to fit into her usual routine rather than require a major change to her schedule.
“I chose to do the show at the Bowl because I knew that my bed was only going to be like a 10-minute drive home by 11,” Cyrus said.
She also joked that her performances could be among the earliest shows ever held at the venue. Cyrus explained that the Hollywood Bowl had told her there was a hard stop at 11 p.m., but that timing still felt late to her.
“That is so too late. I’m done by 9:30 p.m.,” she said.
The singer even planned around her fiancé Maxx Morando’s new truck. She recalled wanting to “tent” the Tacoma for his birthday because she expected him to drive her to the Hollywood Bowl.
“He’s like, ‘We’re taking the Tacoma to the Bowl?’ Hell yeah, because it’s just another day,” Cyrus said.
Testing the Residency Idea
The strong ticket demand gave Cyrus another reason to consider a longer run. Nearly 1.5 million fans reportedly entered the presale ticket queue for the two shows.
During the interview, Zane Lowe suggested that Cyrus could need about 80 Hollywood Bowl shows to meet that level of interest.

Cyrus responded that a residency had already been part of her thinking.
“This is the ultimate dress rehearsal,” she said. “I’ve learned now through the queue that my calculations are correct, and people will come to me. I don’t need to drive to you.”
She described the concerts as a “proof of concept” that could lead to something broader while allowing her to decide the terms.
Cyrus Returns to the Stage
The Hollywood Bowl dates mark Cyrus’ first major performances since she appeared at the Corona Capital music festival in Mexico City in November 2022. She has performed at other events and specials since then.
Her 10th studio album, “Bass Persuades,” is scheduled for release Friday, Sept. 18.
Cyrus has not confirmed an 80-show residency. For now, the Oct. 16 and Oct. 18 Hollywood Bowl concerts will serve as the clearest test of how she wants to structure future live performances.
Her comments suggest that location, routine, audience demand, and control over her schedule will all play a role in any larger plans.
