Well, technically not the pizzas, but the pizza lovers and pizza artists often made it to the headlines for setting insane records. Here’s taking a look at some of the most amazing world records set by pizza lovers and all the lovely pizza people to date.
Big Pizza In Flat 2 Minutes
When it comes to the tradition of pizza making, spinning the dough is the real delight. And mastering this art is no mean feat. So the next time you watch a pro doing that, it’s surely a treat to the eyes!
At present, Tony Gemignani has the world record for spinning the pizza base in just 2 minutes. That’s not all! He spun 500 grams of dough into the base that measured 84.33 cm in width. That’s the largest within the mentioned time.
500 Pizzas In An Hour
Try talking to the Bundaberg Dominos staff, and they’re likely to tell you about the world record they fetched for making the maximum number of pizzas in an hour. Of course, you need exemplary pizza spinning talent, coupled with speed and precision.
But what surprises most is the team, a small one, at the Bundaberg Dominos outlet that effectively produced 500 pizzas in an hour. They felt they could do it better. So they got together, and in the remaining 28 minutes, the count was around 837 in an hour.
Pizza Memorabilia – A Rarity
You don’t often get to hear this, but USA-based Brian Dwyer owns the record for having the largest pizza nut. For a complete year, he went on a ‘binge collection’ spree of pizza memorabilia as part of his private collection.
From the early days of 2010 till the next year, 2011, Brian was the proud owner of a record 561 items. That included sticklers, comic books, puzzles, games, matchboxes, clothing, and even household stuff. Let’s not forget the Ninja Turtles Plinko, a famous arcade game.
Commercially Available Biggest Pizza
This is not the right fit for someone who is single or intends to hog on it with their partner. Get your big family on board, and then feasting on it would have been fun. Made at Papa’s Pizzeria and Big Mama, the largest pizza that would be suitable commercially bore the price tag of $200.
It appeared a tad unique and not like the traditional ones – especially with the 1.37 m x 1.37 m square. A total of 50-100 people were estimated to have fed on it. So imagine having a dinner party next weekend. Surely, you know the rest!
‘Pizza Boxes’ Did You Just Say?
Yes, we do have all kinds of people in this world, and Scott Wiener has the world record for his huge collection of pizza boxes. He owns a pizza tour company himself in New York City and has a total of 595 varied boxes collected from different corners of the world (42 countries, to be precise).
If you like to know where they keep these boxes, don’t worry, we have the answer! The boxes are now at the Wieners apartment. For four long decades, Wiener was at it and even brought a copy of the book where he openly confessed his obsession. It was called Viva La Pizza! The Art of the Pizza Box.
The Largest Pizza
After the large and larger, the largest one in the world covers a surface area of around 1261.65-meter squares. Thanks to Marco Nardi, Matteo Nardi, Andrea Mannocchi, Matteo Giannotte and Dovilio Nardi from the Roman NIP Food, at Fiera Roma- this one took the world by storm. Christened ‘Ottavia’ (from the Roman ‘eighth son’), this one was gluten-free.
One-Minute Record
If that was a couple of minutes, 2009 saw the Geris Mohsen stunning the world with the biggest pizza that he spun in just a minute. The dough base measured 42 cm. Unbelievable, right?
But that’s what he did in Restorante Sant’Eustorgio, in Milan, Italy.
